As a university city, Leuven boasts a relatively car-free city centre with lots of scenic nature surrounding it, making it the ideal riding environment for casual cyclists and enthusiast roadies alike. A very bicycle-friendly city, Leuven hosts renowned races, like the annual Grote Prijs Jef Scherens, won this year by Victor Campenaerts. It's also one of the few Belgium races not on Eddy Merckx palmarès.
